Mixer For Live Streaming
What is Mixer?
Unfortunately, there are not many programs or apps that allow gamers to broadcast live games on iOS or Android devices.
Mixer live streaming—a free video game streaming website and service from Microsoft—enables gamers and other users to do just this. It was launched in 2016 as “Beam.” However, it was rebranded as “Mixer” in 2017.
Mixer, as a live-streaming platform, has steadily increased its user reach. This service focuses on live video game broadcasts, but it can also host:
- Live podcast recordings
- Casual conversation
- Music events
- Industry Events
- eSports Tournaments
- In-Real-Life videos
. . . and much more.
The Mixer live streaming app also supports video games like Goat Simulator, Mortal Combat 5: Blackout, and Star Trek. This app includes a live video feed and chat rooms where users can interact in real-time.
Mixer is similar to other live-streaming platforms, such as its competitor, Amazon’s Twitch. Users can interact by live streaming Mixer events, viewing events, commenting on streams, initiating co-hosting, and receiving alerts for subscription channels.
The app also allows streamers to replay past streams or video clips if they aren’t currently active. In fact, Mixer live streaming presently holds the broadcast rights to Paladins Console Series eSports tournaments.
How Does Mixer Integrate with Different Devices?
As long as you have a browser, you can view Mixer live streams by opening Mixer.com; the service is designed for use with the Windows 10 operating system.
Mixer is also readily compatible with Xbox and is built directly into the Xbox One console for smooth streaming.
There are two Mixer live streaming app versions geared for use on either Android or iOS devices. The Mixer Create app can broadcast content to the Mixer streaming service from a mobile device as well as live stream video footage. It can even broadcast mobile video game play.
One notable exception is the PS4, as it belongs to Sony, which is Xbox’s competitor. You can still watch Mixer live streaming from PS4’s web browser, but this is much more complicated than on Xbox.
Pros and Cons of Using Mixer for Live Streaming

- Excellent for streaming games like Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds and Minecraft from Ninja
- It is easier to build your channel and gain exposure on Mixer than on Twitch
Cons
- Lack of PS4 and DVR support
- Amazon’s Twitch has a more extensive user base and enormous revenue potential with their affiliate program
- It is not easy to find non-live content on the platform
Mixer for Live Events: Our Verdict
Mixer live streaming is an excellent option for Windows 10 or Xbox One streamers due to its easy integration with these Microsoft products. As this live streaming service is newer than Twitch, there’s also a lot of potential to develop your creativity as a streamer and build your channel.
However, there is the danger of not gaining enough exposure, especially if you are not gaming.
